Some Progress.

So lately I have been sewing like a mad thing, it's an easy way to be distracted from the stressful life of school which I dread more and more each day; I think I just need to have a break and one isn't far away.
Anyway below is a picture of what my cocktail dress is going to kind of look like for the winter ball later in June. I'm pretty excited for it, the skirt needs taking up a fair bit and the bodice still needs to be brought in, a load, much to my disgust.
I hope you like it.

Designing and Inspiration.

Well it won't be long until it's my birthday and the winter ball so i'm rather excited!
My birthday seems to be harder to plan then I thought as everyone - except Georgia and Andrew - are going to Japan and i want to make it easy for Marny and Corinna to come up. I've decided on what I am going to wear and who I am inviting, all I need to do is pick a venue, most likely No. 25, and a date. Hopefully everyone can come this year.
The ball is really exciting as there is talk the theme will be masquerade which I will love. I will be able to make a mask and put feathers in my hair without being judged! The cocktail dress i'm making is going well, I will be doing more on it this weekend and will hopefully be finished by the middle of May. I might put some photos up later on in the week of my progress with it. I have my make-up sorted out and will be applying something similar to Dita Von Teese's 1940's look she so often wears. Need to book hair and nail appointments!

Love.

For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone. – Audrey Hepburn

Love this quote and love Audrey Hepburn.

So I watched BUtterfield 8 on the weekend and absolutely loved it apart from the ending, which was so blunt and wrecked the whole film. Elizabeth Taylor was amazing and now I love her that much more! Need to continue with my list of movies and books.

Had a lovely time in town tonight with Miranda, one of my friends, she had the last of my iced coffee I hope she feels privileged, I guard my coffee with my life. There Miranda I mentioned you ;)

Happy reading,

The Beauty of Life.

In life it seems as though we can only depend on ourselves to be able to achieve our dreams as no one can fully understand ones own desires, but does one need others to keep sane, or are we truly dependable on ourselves in life? Is one happy with or without someone? Are we conditioned to love with our whole heart or just a part bearing in mind the relationship we must have with ourselves?

Romance Novels and Politics.

An interesting fact for the day: the robe a la Polonaise - a dress where the back of the skirt was held up by strings and divided into three draping parts - worn in 18th century France, is believed to have derived from political events in 1772 resulting in Poland being divided into three kingdoms.

Wish I could think of a design based upon political affairs.

Lately I have been interested in romance books and movies and am wanting to watch and read a few soon including: Butterfield 8 starring Elizabeth Taylor, 500 Days of Summer, The Time Traveler’s Wife, I Capture The Castle, Someone Like You and The Ugly Truth.

The Inspiration of Life.

Life, you can neither love it nor hate it, you just have to put up with it. This week I have decided to fully commit myself to schoolwork and sewing. I have decided I will no longer get stressed about stupid little - or even big things - as life or rather time stops for nobody. In-fact I'm rather excited for the future now.

Love this picture of Chanel models; love Chanel!

Chanel.

Ever since watching the movie Coco Avant Chanel starring Audrey Tautou - who played Chanel amazingly - I have been working towards being a more elegant, dignified and self-reliant person.

I love how Chanel was perceived as strong and single minded, rather strange for her time. Maybe the reason I love her so much.
I very much love Chanel apparel and cosmetics, although I cannot afford them for the time being (maybe one day). Karl lagerfeld did such an amazing job with the S/S 2010 range, I love the pastels and sequins he used in both the ready to wear range and haute couture range. Apparently the apartment Chanel lived in - now Lagerfeld's office - above her first shop is exactly how she left it! Many photo shoots are still carried out there.

t.A.T.u.

I love the lyrics in this song by Russian duo t.A.T.u, they are so realistic and rather deep.

Leave a comment if you can interpret the lyrics "...5 to 7"
I did some research and all I got was 5 = humans, 6 = hell and 7 = angels. Therefore human to angel???
Don't know, It's an amazing song.

White Robe.

Feeling ugly, looking pretty
Yellow ribbons, black grafitti
Word is written, bond is broken
No big secret left unspoken
Sun is painted in the corner
But it's never getting warmer
All the lies they keep on selling
But you never check the spelling

Flying bullets
Hit the targets
Wings and halos
5 to 7
In this white robe
Through the darkness
Paragliding
Back to heaven

Flying bullets
Hit the targets
Wings and halos
5 to 7
In this white robe
Through the darkness
Paragliding
Back to heaven

Time is running we are sitting
Back together just for splitting
You are crying in the corner
Always next and never former
Open up and let me hear it
Former Body, future spirit
Brain is useless, chair is rocking
Open doors for dead man walking

Flying bullets
Hit the targets
Wings and halos
5 to 7
In this white robe
Through the darkness
Paragliding
Back to heaven

Flying bullets
Hit the targets
Wings and halos
5 to 7
In this white robe
Through the darkness
Paragliding
Back to heaven

My Future House.

This is quite a random post but I feel as though the world must know about how I want to live in the future. Lately I have been gaining a lot of inspiration for sewing from interior design blogs, websites and magazines believe it or not. I have become so obsessed with interior decorating and styling now that I'm thinking about becoming an interior designer. I'm hoping when I eventually get my own house or apartment my personality and style will be reflected within it.
Anyway, I have analysed the types of interiors I have been drawn towards and realised I really like the shabby chic style, Parisian style, and classic style when it comes to decorating houses. I have also realised I like rich/warm colours (like my mum) as well as pastel/light colours (like my Nan) I have no idea how you would incorporate the two but anyhow.

Below are some photos of what I would like my house to resemble in the future.

Enjoy!
