Welcome Back.

Peach
1

Holidays at last and I have been getting stuck into sewing and designing. I'm really hyped up about being able to do fashion as a class next year for school; it will be something to lighten up year 12. So I have decided to make this blog one of my main sources of inspiration and I am going to update it at least once a week. Hopefully everything I collect such as images from weheartit.com and outfits I have made from Polyvore will be published and I can use this as a type of folio. Anyhow, I have decided to be dedicated to my blog more this year.

Long Time No Post.

I'm back!
haha i've been neglecting my blog for some time but hopefully now that folios have been done and school is almost over for the year I will be able to get a few decent posts in.
A lot has happened since my last post. I went to Sydney to participate in the nationals of the Australian Apex Teenage Fashion Awards which was so inspiring, the trip was so much better than the year before the experiance was unreal!
Exams are soon but I don't think I will be to stressed. I have wasted my stress on my folios and just want my results back now! Next year should be a lot easier since I know what to expect. More designing planned over the next few months and my photoshoot is eventually going to proceed hopefully sooner than later. SO excited.
Anyhow here is a beautiful pic to inspire, enjoy!

Sydney.

While the past few months have been tiring yet eye-opening I now have something to look forward to in the upcoming month: Sydney. Second place in the Tasmania Apex Teenage Fashion Awards has allowed me to walk back into that lovely Victorian building the - Strand Arcade - which holds some of the most amazing Australian designers shops! I've spent a fair amount of time now saving up for Alannah Hill and will hopefully find something I will fall in love with. I've decided shoes are off my list - unfortunately I have too many at the moment,  my last buy being for the fashion awards. Hopefully it's hot over there this time!

Daphne Guinness.

I love this photo by David Lachapelle with Daphne Guinness featured in it. I love Daphne so much at the moment, her style is so unique a little less low key than Gaga but still amazing!

I am loving this 60's style hair. It looks so effortless and chic at the same time. Reminds me of Brigitte Bardot actually.

Exams are creeping up =s

Chocolate and Coffee.

Monday has almost gone and I am thankful as it means there are only four more days until the end of the week! For now I have decided to get a coffee finish my box of favorites while completing my homework for maths and English, the first bit sounds nice. I was able to go into town after school tonight though and looked at some shoes and bought some lining for a dress I am making at the moment. I actually can't believe how much I have been making this year once I have finished everything I am doing now I will have five dresses a skirt a shirt and numerous pieces of jewelry. First year I have ever actually put so much effort into my designs now that I come to think of it.

The Lazy Life.

At the moment I'm happily eating a box of favourites that are supposed to be part of my maths assignment that I haven't got around to doing (oops). I'm also behind in English and honestly don't have the mental power to get it complete so for now it is sitting in the bottom of my bag well hidden but will surely arise further down the track just as all shit does - did I mention exams are a couple of weeks away?

While there is a lot of crap circulating in my life at the moment there are also a few positives; AATFA is on August the 28th and the September holidays realistically are not that far away. To ease my mind, as I always do when necessary, I took some time out to look at beautiful inspiring pictures - I was going to take my own but egg went through my camera, yet another mishap.

I Wish I Could Have You.

"It starts with a quiet hum, an empty screen inviting you, 'come inside' it says, 'we're always open'. It's a world you think, where actions have no consequence, Where guilt is cloaked by anonymity. Where there are no fingerprints. An invisible universe, filled with strangers interconnected online and disconnected in life. It will steal your secrets, corrupt your dreams, and co-opt your identity. Because in this world, where you can be anything you want. Anyone you want... You just might lose sight of who you are. - Perfect Stranger

Some Progress.

So lately I have been sewing like a mad thing, it's an easy way to be distracted from the stressful life of school which I dread more and more each day; I think I just need to have a break and one isn't far away.
Anyway below is a picture of what my cocktail dress is going to kind of look like for the winter ball later in June. I'm pretty excited for it, the skirt needs taking up a fair bit and the bodice still needs to be brought in, a load, much to my disgust.
I hope you like it.

Designing and Inspiration.

Well it won't be long until it's my birthday and the winter ball so i'm rather excited!
My birthday seems to be harder to plan then I thought as everyone - except Georgia and Andrew - are going to Japan and i want to make it easy for Marny and Corinna to come up. I've decided on what I am going to wear and who I am inviting, all I need to do is pick a venue, most likely No. 25, and a date. Hopefully everyone can come this year.
The ball is really exciting as there is talk the theme will be masquerade which I will love. I will be able to make a mask and put feathers in my hair without being judged! The cocktail dress i'm making is going well, I will be doing more on it this weekend and will hopefully be finished by the middle of May. I might put some photos up later on in the week of my progress with it. I have my make-up sorted out and will be applying something similar to Dita Von Teese's 1940's look she so often wears. Need to book hair and nail appointments!

Love.

For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone. – Audrey Hepburn

Love this quote and love Audrey Hepburn.

So I watched BUtterfield 8 on the weekend and absolutely loved it apart from the ending, which was so blunt and wrecked the whole film. Elizabeth Taylor was amazing and now I love her that much more! Need to continue with my list of movies and books.

Had a lovely time in town tonight with Miranda, one of my friends, she had the last of my iced coffee I hope she feels privileged, I guard my coffee with my life. There Miranda I mentioned you ;)

Happy reading,

The Beauty of Life.

In life it seems as though we can only depend on ourselves to be able to achieve our dreams as no one can fully understand ones own desires, but does one need others to keep sane, or are we truly dependable on ourselves in life? Is one happy with or without someone? Are we conditioned to love with our whole heart or just a part bearing in mind the relationship we must have with ourselves?

Romance Novels and Politics.

An interesting fact for the day: the robe a la Polonaise - a dress where the back of the skirt was held up by strings and divided into three draping parts - worn in 18th century France, is believed to have derived from political events in 1772 resulting in Poland being divided into three kingdoms.

Wish I could think of a design based upon political affairs.

Lately I have been interested in romance books and movies and am wanting to watch and read a few soon including: Butterfield 8 starring Elizabeth Taylor, 500 Days of Summer, The Time Traveler’s Wife, I Capture The Castle, Someone Like You and The Ugly Truth.

The Inspiration of Life.

Life, you can neither love it nor hate it, you just have to put up with it. This week I have decided to fully commit myself to schoolwork and sewing. I have decided I will no longer get stressed about stupid little - or even big things - as life or rather time stops for nobody. In-fact I'm rather excited for the future now.

Love this picture of Chanel models; love Chanel!

Chanel.

Ever since watching the movie Coco Avant Chanel starring Audrey Tautou - who played Chanel amazingly - I have been working towards being a more elegant, dignified and self-reliant person.

I love how Chanel was perceived as strong and single minded, rather strange for her time. Maybe the reason I love her so much.
I very much love Chanel apparel and cosmetics, although I cannot afford them for the time being (maybe one day). Karl lagerfeld did such an amazing job with the S/S 2010 range, I love the pastels and sequins he used in both the ready to wear range and haute couture range. Apparently the apartment Chanel lived in - now Lagerfeld's office - above her first shop is exactly how she left it! Many photo shoots are still carried out there.

t.A.T.u.

I love the lyrics in this song by Russian duo t.A.T.u, they are so realistic and rather deep.

Leave a comment if you can interpret the lyrics "...5 to 7"
I did some research and all I got was 5 = humans, 6 = hell and 7 = angels. Therefore human to angel???
Don't know, It's an amazing song.

White Robe.

Feeling ugly, looking pretty
Yellow ribbons, black grafitti
Word is written, bond is broken
No big secret left unspoken
Sun is painted in the corner
But it's never getting warmer
All the lies they keep on selling
But you never check the spelling

Flying bullets
Hit the targets
Wings and halos
5 to 7
In this white robe
Through the darkness
Paragliding
Back to heaven

Flying bullets
Hit the targets
Wings and halos
5 to 7
In this white robe
Through the darkness
Paragliding
Back to heaven

Time is running we are sitting
Back together just for splitting
You are crying in the corner
Always next and never former
Open up and let me hear it
Former Body, future spirit
Brain is useless, chair is rocking
Open doors for dead man walking

Flying bullets
Hit the targets
Wings and halos
5 to 7
In this white robe
Through the darkness
Paragliding
Back to heaven

Flying bullets
Hit the targets
Wings and halos
5 to 7
In this white robe
Through the darkness
Paragliding
Back to heaven

My Future House.

This is quite a random post but I feel as though the world must know about how I want to live in the future. Lately I have been gaining a lot of inspiration for sewing from interior design blogs, websites and magazines believe it or not. I have become so obsessed with interior decorating and styling now that I'm thinking about becoming an interior designer. I'm hoping when I eventually get my own house or apartment my personality and style will be reflected within it.
Anyway, I have analysed the types of interiors I have been drawn towards and realised I really like the shabby chic style, Parisian style, and classic style when it comes to decorating houses. I have also realised I like rich/warm colours (like my mum) as well as pastel/light colours (like my Nan) I have no idea how you would incorporate the two but anyhow.

Below are some photos of what I would like my house to resemble in the future.

Enjoy!

The Lovely 50's

Ah, I am so happy Marc Jacobs made such a 50's inspired collection for Louis Vuitton's Fall 2010 RTW collection! The 50's are most definatly one of my favourite dress periods, everyone looked properly dressed, no lady left the house without gloves a coat and a hat and the elegance that was portrayed through what one wore was divine beauty.

To Caitlin for teaching me respect goes a long way and insecurity goes no where.
To Alex for teaching me this is my life and you have to do whatever you have to to make it.
To Alistair for teaching me intelligence gets you no where unless you know how to use it.
To Andrew for reminding me faith is an important part of reality.
To the girls of my grade for teaching me class is gained in the actions you carry out.

Thankyou for making me smarter and wiser in so many ways. The person I am today is because of you all. I hope I have all taught you something in return.

To God for showing me everything I need will truely come to me and everything happens for a reason.

To myself for learning trust is underated.

An amazing quote for the day "So watch your head and then watch the ground, It's a silly time to learn to swim when you start to drown, It's a silly time to learn to swim on the way down" - My Number. Tegan and Sara

I've noticed a lot of people are running...including myself. I should probably stop and enjoy smelling the roses ;)

Desert Flower.

Over the past month I have been reading the book Desert Flower by Waris Dirie. It is a magnificantly  moving book which has really inspired me!
I'm hoping to see the movie also named Desert Flower.

Search For Wisdom.

Over the next nine months of this year I have decided to take a different approach to life and seek various forms of inspiration; I feel as though my life is lacking something.  Hopefully I will be able to find something life changing. I want something amazing to happen!

P.S.S. To further add on from my last post, I would prefer  to be loved than feared.

Tuesday, March 16, 2010

Power Play.

"...is [it] better to be loved rather than feared, or feared rather than loved...it is far safer to be feared than loved... since his being loved depends upon his subjects, while his being feared depends upon himself, [one] should build on what is his own, and not on what rests with others.”

What would you prefer?
